If you haven't seen the sermon you can watch it here.
Note to leaders: This week’s topic is deeply confrontational of our culture of comfort. Don’t allow shallow conversations – this is an opportunity to dig deep, to be honest, to be challenged within the safety net of Grace.
Welcome (Community)
Are you a team sport person or a solo sport person?
Scripture reading: Acts 2:42-47 & 4:32-35
Word (Discipleship):
Reading the texts – what do you find encouraging in terms of your expression of community, and what do you find challenging?
When I read the text, “devoted” (2: 42) stands out to me. I am devoted to Jesus, but devoted to “teaching” to “fellowship” to “breaking bread (eating together)” to “prayer”? What do you think?
The text speaks clearly about the sharing of resources, of economic equality. How does God’s economy shape our connection as Christian family?
Discuss Brent’s statement: “We need to shift our mind-set away from “I went to church on a Sunday” towards a healthier version of “I am the church and I’ve opened my home to God’s people, and to others who will become God’s people”
Works (Mission)
