Look and Live
The strange story of a snake on a stick in the Old Testament book, Numbers, raises all sorts of questions about us, God and snakes. Snakes are animals which most people avoid at the best of times, here the Israelites are said to look at the snake and live.
Signposts point to a destination. Often in life, we get so hung up on the sign, that we completely miss out on what it points to.
As with many accounts in the Old Testament, the snake is a signpost pointing to the ultimate source of life - Jesus.
