COMMUNION SUNDAY
This Sunday we will be sharing Communion together online (have your bread and grape juice ready if you’ll be taking part with us). We do this in remembrance of how Jesus gave up His body (the bread) to be crucified on a cross; how He bled (the grape juice/wine) and died for our sins so that we can be justified before God. The sacrament of Communion is a symbol of our joining together with Jesus’ death and resurrection - we have died to sin so that we can live for God, and be with Him forever.
In this week's sermon:
A golden thread that ran through the early church's life and growth was constant corporate prayer. This rhythm of prayer was fuel for the message, the journey, the direction, and the fruit of the church.
We’re in a sermon series called, “Scattered - Being the Church everywhere we go”, exploring the early days of the Church in the book of Acts. Those days were highly disruptive and uncertain times for Jesus' disciples, with persecutions and other hardships, caught in the crossfire of political and nationalistic strife - yet we see the Church experiencing explosive growth. As we find ourselves now in similarly uncertain times: our lives disrupted and scattered by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the threat of many other issues and political turmoils across our nation and world - it seems appropriate to be looking back to see what we can learn from the experiences of our ancient relatives in the faith and how God moved by His Spirit through His people to expand and strengthen His eternal kingdom throughout the temporary kingdoms of this world.
