Generosity is part of who we are as a church, but whether or not you call Protea Valley Church your home, we’d love to help you find a way to channel your generosity and make a real difference with your time, talent or treasure.

Here are some of the ways that you can help:

Short-term relief:

Help for those in need

Helping the vulnerable with their most urgent needs is a reflection of God's generosity and kindness towards us. To paraphrase Brennan Manning: "We are all beggars at the door of God's mercy" and yet He invites us in as sons and daughters.

It was truly a blessing for us as a worshipping community to be able to provide food and basic goods to help 100's of families through the worst of the lockdown period - we'd like to extend a huge "thank you" to everyone who got involved in some way.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

~ 2 Corinthians 9:7 [NIV]

Donate basic goods

While our food parcel project has come to a close, we recognise that poverty and unemployment are ongoing issues in our country. That is why we have a team of people working hard to develop long-term sustainable solutions to these needs.

"That's great," you might be thinking, "but what can I do now to help the poor and destitute people I encounter every day?"

Something we'd like to recommend is that you purchase Meal Vouchers and/or Safe Space (night shelter) Vouchers from M.E.S. (Mould. Empower. Serve) to give to people in need. It is a means of giving responsibly rather than perpetuating a cycle of dependency through cash handouts.

Long-term support:

Loving our Brothers and Sisters and Neighbours

The current COVID-19 crisis has placed strain on many people in and around the neighbourhood in which Protea Valley Church is situated. We see this as a season where we as Jesus' church can really make a practical difference in the lives of people.

We have put together a team of skilled professionals to assist anyone who needs advice, counsel or care. We want to be able to assist people in the practical things: work place, business, personal finances and family life because God cares about every facet of our lives

In the aftermath of lockdown, many have lost jobs, and we anticipate that some will be grieving the loss of loved ones. In such times of immediate crisis, we want to offer short-term practical help by providing meals for those affected as a tangible expression of Christlike love and concern for them.

Covid-19 has given us an opportunity to connect people who need something with people who have something.

So if you have some skill, ability or opportunity that you'd like to offer in service to someone at this time, this is the place to be! We want to connect people with generous spirits to those who need practical generosity, so thank you for making yourself available.

~ Galatians 6:2 [NIV]

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Offer your time and expertise
Offer employment opportunity

In the wake of an extended lockdown, people within our own Protea Valley Church family are finding themselves without employment or a source of income. While we can't "fix" our nation's unemployment problems, one of the ways we can help our brothers and sisters in Christ to get back on their feet again is by connecting them to any potential job opportunities we might have to offer.

Maybe you're in a position to employ more staff at your place of work OR perhaps you could do with some extra help around the house, maybe a nanny to help look after the kids so that you can get on with your own work - if so, please let us know by filling in the form so that we can connect you with potential applicants in the Protea Valley family.

Investing in Tomorrow

Young people are the future of this nation and we are excited to be able to make a difference in their lives.

Through the ReNew Trust, Protea Valley Church is currently supporting more than a dozen young people in obtaining an education every year.

We believe that if we are going to make a sustainable difference, education is one of the best investments.

In addition to secondary and tertiary education, we run an early childhood development Educare on-site, as well as an after care at one of our local farm communities.

Children need to grow up in a safe home where they are loved and cared for. Sadly, this is not the reality for many. That is why we are also working towards opening a family-based foster home to love and care for some of the most vulnerable children in the greater Cape Town area.

To learn more about the work we're doing and how you can support education and childcare through our programs and initiatives, visit the Re:New Trust website.

Prayer support:

As a people who love Jesus and believe in the Word of God, we depend in all things on the grace of the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us accomplish every good thing in His name.

Prayer is a vital component to everything we do at Protea Valley Church and through the Re:New Trust.

Every prayer made in humility and faith is heard by our Father in Heaven, and so we appreciate your prayer support in all of the above ministries and initiatives.

What's happening in terms of prayer in Protea Valley Church?

  • Weekly Thursday morning prayer meeting on Zoom.

  • Monthly prayer walk in the Protea Valley area.

  • Join our dedicated team of intercessors.

If you'd like to get involved in any of these, please fill in the form provided and someone will get in touch with you.
