Bottles of Hope: Feeding 12,000 one bottle at a time

At New Day After Care on Morgenster Farm, a beautiful movement is taking root - one that shows generosity isn’t defined by wealth but by heart.

Inspired by the words of 1 Chronicles 4:10, the team at New Day has launched the Bottles of Hope Project - a community-driven initiative aiming to collect 3,000 food bottles, each capable of feeding four people. That’s 12,000 meals lovingly prepared and given by the very communities often seen only as receivers of help.

Madelyn, the principal of New Day After Care, shared how it all started. “In 2025 we challenged our kids to bring canned food from their own cupboards as part of the 'Blikkie Project, '” she explained. “They collected 70 tins altogether. Some even took their own pocket money to buy a tin. The food was donated to Mercy Aids through ReNew, who works in the Fisantekraal community to give food to the most vulnerable.
